sixty
May 8th, 2008Today marks the 60th year of the existence of the State of Israel. Having lived there for twelve years, I must admit I kind of miss the place. Where else can you get freshly baked pita bread off an assembly line at the bakery section of the supermarket? Or falafel in pita with “hummusaladchips?” (always offered as a one word question), tehina, and fiery hot sauce.
To read more about the festivities, here’s a list of relevant links:

Mazel tov!
Or, since this is a food blog, should that be “matzoh tov”? ;-)
There’s a (I think) Lebanese store not too far from the office, where I can get tehina pretty easily. I hope it’s still good… I suddenly want to make some hummus & I have everything else.

LOL, thanks, either one works :).
Funny, I had the same urge to make hummus yesterday :). Maybe today…
Btw, if you can convince the fine folks at that Lebanese store to open up a restaurant or possibly a deli counter, you’ll be set. Mmm…. Lebanese food. There’s nothing like it.
